25 days…that number once was 225, then it was 125, and now we are less than a month till launch. What once was far off in the distance is now becoming a reality, and my mind is a mix of excitement and sadness. I’m excited to start this new chapter, to explore God’s world, and most importantly to share His love to all the corners of the earth. But in the midst of the excitement is the reality of leaving the comfort of home, friends and family. I pray that I learn to lean into my Savior for comfort and support while I am away because He is everlasting and this world is not.
When it comes to preparation and packing, I would say I’m 70% there. I have most of the basics and all of my sleeping supplies (tent, sleeping bag, pad, pillow, etc.) and now my focus is on the details (vaccines, medicine, pre-training).
Praise be to God that so many people in my life have shown their support financially and in prayer. I am fully funded and these past few months have been eye-opening to the fact that my Lord can and will provide. This has been a team effort and I truly could not go without the help of my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Next time you hear from me, I’ll be training for a month in Georgia at AIM’s home base. All glory to Him alone!
