Wow, I don’t even know where to start. Today marks the first week of training camp and I’m just now getting into the groove of it. Our days start at 7:45 am and end at 8:00 pm and not one day looks the same. Sometimes they heavily consist of Bible-based sessions that our taught to us by AIM’s staff leaders, or others are more relaxed and spending time with our new friends. I’m here for 2 more weeks before I spend a week in North Carolina for disaster relief. October 4th is launch day for Columbia.
If I were to describe my experience here so far in one word, it would be “life-giving”. The people, the place, the worship, and everything in between breathe life. I have never experienced God’s presence so much and so loudly in one place.
One thing AIM heavily emphasizes is Sabbathing. Today (September 5th) is our first Sabbath and for the rest of training camp our Sabbaths will land on Fridays. My squad got together for a small service that was led by us. I led worship with a few of my other teammates and we heard the Word from Seth, a team member as well. We broke bread (Cheerios) and drank wine (berry lemonade). For the rest of the day we can do as we please. While we’re on the field we work for 5 days, then we have an adventure day, and then we Sabbath.
I’m so so excited for the next 38 weeks of ministry, fellowship, and worship filled days.
