Hello lovely people. My grandmother asked me if I had written any blogs recently…and so here I am writing a blog because it’s time for an update.
Let’s begin with the ministry. Our home is in Kloof (just outside of Durban), and we are transported to our ministry each day. We have been involved with three different areas and each one of them we pour into by sharing the gospel and Jesus’s love. Five days a week we go to rehabs, primary and high schools, and old age homes. Our evenings are spent either resting or going to local worship sessions hosted by our ministry hosts. This upcoming week we get to stay at an orphan village called LIV village, and when I get back I will blog more about that!
It’s been peaceful getting to be separated from our ministry because often we come home and we’re exhausted mentally and emotionally, so getting to have a space where we can rest and spend intentional alone time with each other and the Lord has been a blessing. Our host mentioned having a “spiritual pull” every time we’re in ministry, and he explained why that is the reason we get so tired easily. Every day we enter into spaces that we pour into and these spaces aren’t necessarily “Christian” spaces. Sure maybe the school’s curriculum is Christian based or the rehab integrates a religious lifestyle into these men’s lives. But we’re surrounded by worldly things and pouring into these kind of spaces continually makes us exhausted. And that is the raw reality of ministry. I have experienced it throughout the race but it’s had its heaviest effect on me here in Africa.
I think the biggest impact on this exhaustion is the fact that I’m so close to being home. We only have 45 days left and after being out here for 8 months, is it bad to say I’m done and ready to start my next season? I know that the Lord is pleased and satisfied with what He has done through us and in us. I’m sure He has a few tricks up His sleeve and a little bit more sharpening to do within us. But yes I’m ready to go back home and testify to all of my friends and family all that He has done!! I’ve talked about this to my team already and one thing we have agreed on is to not lose sight on these last few moments.
Other than that, I am doing very good and hopefully I’ll get another blog to you real soon.
